Story
Each person has a different journey when trying to find their passion. For Kyriakos, Balmain Hair Couture’s agent in Cyprus, one could say he was born into it. Fascinated by his mother’s profession as a hairdresser and motivated by both his mother’s and father’s strong work ethic, Kyriakos found his calling as a hair stylist very early on. Being exposed to the art and craft of styling at his mother’s business, he started gathering knowledge from a young age.
During the era of the emerging supermodel, from 1990 until 1992, Kyriakos studied at the Alan International Hair Styling Academy in London. Upon completing his training, he returned to Cyprus and accepted a prestigious position at the Mediterranean Hotel Hair Salon. A year later, he moved to the five-star luxury hotel Four Seasons salon.
In 1994, Kyriakos opened his own salon, following in the footsteps of his entrepreneurial mother. During his career, he has served as president of the HFC Cyprus. Part of his duties included visiting Paris twice a year to explore the latest trends and style proposals. When Balmain launched their initial styling product line in 2016, Kyriakos as a brand agent, introduced it to the local market. His partnership with Balmain hair couture was also due to personal experience. When Kyriakos started specialising in hair extensions, he found the brand’s solution the most effective and of the highest quality. As the distribution of the Balmain Hair Couture grew meteorically in Cyprus, the need for an entity to handle this business expansion became critical; thus, Velura was born. Today, Velura is one of Cyprus’ leading sources of premium luxury hair and beauty products.
